  Rehabilitation

Holy Family is one of the largest referral centers for rehabilitation in BC. The facility houses a 76-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit and extensive treatment areas that facilitate more than 15,000 outpatient visits annually. The program offers intensive therapy for older adults to overcome obstacles caused by strokes, arthritis, orthopedic trauma or major surgeries like hip, ankle or knee replacements and leg amputations. The program is designed to help clients fully recover or adapt to irreparable damage. Clients also learn skills and attitudes that will help them manage with diminished capacity, such as Easy Street, where life experiences become clinical tools to help clients regain function. They do this through common mobility challenges such as a simulated bus lift, a park bench, a restaurant booth, an automated bank machine, an automobile and a grocery checkout.

St. Paul's offers rehabilitation to patients who are referred from other programs within the hospital. They may require stroke and neurological rehabilitation or suffer from such medically and surgically related disabilities as amputations, post-orthopedic and cardiac surgery, and debility from multiple medical conditions.
